 Dear Friends,

Krispy Kreme turns 65 this month! Way back on July 13, 1937, Vernon
Rudolph, our founder, opened a doughnut store in Winston-Salem, North
Carolina, and Krispy Kreme was born. Check out the information on how
 we¡¦re
celebrating our birthday in the Enewsletter below. And although we¡¦re
turning 65, we¡¦re not retiring, we¡¦re just getting started!

 Featured Doughnut
The Triple Chocolate doughnut continues as our featured doughnut this
month. If you haven¡¦t had a chance to taste one, you might want to
 give it
a try. Unless you¡¦re not a fan of chocolate that is, because not only
 is
this doughnut filled with rich chocolate pudding, it also is topped off
with chocolate icing and bits of chocolate brownie. The Triple
 Chocolate
doughnut will be available at participating stores through the end of
 July.
You can find out more about our featured doughnut by clicking on the
following link krispykreme.com. Many, but not
 all,
Krispy Kreme stores participate in the featured doughnut program so
 check
with your local store. Phone numbers can be found on our Web site under

Krispy Kreme to Celebrate 65th Birthday
The big day is finally here! On July 13, 2002, we turn 65!

In honor of this important birthday, we¡¦ll be having celebrations at
 most
of our stores across the country. 65th birthday T-shirts, balloons, and
posters will be available and many stores will have doughnut birthday
 cakes
and a variety of fun activities on Saturday, July 13. Participating
 stores
will be selling the 65th Birthday T-shirts for $6.50 with the purchase
 of
two dozen doughnuts. The shirts retail for $13.95 each. Check with your
local store and see what they¡¦re up to and come help us celebrate 65
 years
of good times and warm memories!

In our hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, we¡¦ll be holding a
birthday party on Saturday, July 13, in Old Salem near the site of the
original store opened by Vernon Rudolph in 1937. The celebration will
 run
from 9 a.m. until noon and will include fun activities for kids,
 including
face painting, clowns, and balloon animals, as well as doughnuts,
 coffee,
ice cream, and more. We plan to assemble the world¡¦s largest doughnut
 cake
the night before the event under the direction of our research chef,
 Ron
Rupocinski. He will be ably assisted by a group of Krispy Kreme
 employees.
The birthday should be a really fun event so if you¡¦re in the area,
 please
stop by and see what we hope will be record-breaking doughnut cake and
 enjoy the festivities!

Krispy Kreme Friend of the Month
Our Friend of the Month for July is Joel Gore, who was nominated by his
nephew Michael Goff. Michael included a list of the top five reasons
 Joel
should be the July friend of the month, which we have included below.
 To
see a photo of Joel, please click on the following link.
 krispykreme.com

Top 5 Reasons Joel Gore Should be the July Friend of the Month:
 5. Since there are no Krispy Kreme locations in Massachusetts (yet),
 Joel
visits a Krispy Kreme every time he travels. He¡¦s visited a variety of
locations, including Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, Atlanta, Las Vegas,
Wilmington, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

 4. While traveling, he always calls someone back home to let him or her
know that he¡¦s currently enjoying a Krispy Kreme doughnut.

 3. He always brings two dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts home with him.
 Check
the freezer in his basement, we¡¦re not kidding! Of course, you¡¦ll
 have to
get past that big lock first!

 2. He makes sure that his family is aware of the latest flavors of
 Krispy
Kreme doughnuts by forwarding the latest issue of the Krispy Kreme
 Enewsletter.

 1. He¡¦s a cardiologist, and according to his wife Debbie (also a
 doctor),
his favorite expression is: ¡§Krispy Kreme¡Kjust what the doctor
 ordered.¡¨

If you¡¦d like to be a Friend of the Month or have someone you¡¦d like
 to
nominate, send us a photo and the reason why you or your nominee would
 be a
 good choice to customer@krispykreme.com.

On the Road with the Krispy Kreme Mobile Store
The Krispy Kreme Mobile Store, our Krispy Kreme store on wheels, is off
 and
 running.

The Mobile Store schedule for July:
„h July 4-7: Fair Saint Louis, St. Louis, Missouri
„h July 13: Groundbreaking for new Krispy Kreme store at 2327 Cottman
 Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
„h July 18-27: Delaware State Fair, Harrington, Delaware

Here are a few words from Courtney Spellman, our Mobile Store
 on-the-spot
 reporter:
¡§After the Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta, we headed to Nashville,
Tennessee to set up the Mobile Store at the LPGA Electrolux
 Championship.
We had a chance to watch some really great golf and meet a few of the
players. While visiting the ESPN truck, Mobile Store employees Austin
 and
Lester got the opportunity to have their photo placed on the cover of a
mock ESPN magazine and Martin and Jessie got the chance to be mock
sportscasters. Meanwhile, Kathleen and Chip took a few moments to watch
 the
players during practice rounds, while Don, when not taking command of
 the
Krispy Kreme Mobile Store, stayed glued to the television watching the
 NHL
playoffs. I, with my exceptional handicap, considered leaving Krispy
 Kreme
and joining the LPGA tour but quickly reconsidered when a horrendous
hangnail completely destroyed my short game!¡¨

Stay tuned for more news from the road!
