MigraTEC Launches 64Express for the Itanium Processor Family; 64Express Dramatically Reduces the Risk, Time and Cost of 32-bit to 64-bit Migration Projects July 08, 2002 08:50:00 AM ET
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 2002--MigraTEC(TM) MIGR has launched 64Express(TM) for the Intel(R) Itanium(R) processor family, extending its line of automated migration solutions to support migrating applications from 32-bit systems to the Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 processor platforms.
"The introduction of 64Express for the Itanium processor family to support migrations to the Itanium and now Itanium 2 processor platforms is a result of the close collaboration between Intel and MigraTEC to deliver solutions that support customers' platform-optimization strategies," said Wes Blair, vice president of sales and marketing for MigraTEC. "IT managers are recognizing the need to build their strategies around open platforms, like those based on the Itanium 2 processors, that offer flexibility and value as well as enterprise-class performance. With 64Express now able to migrate 32-bit software to the new platform, the release of the Itanium 2 processor represents an outstanding opportunity for MigraTEC and its customers."
Based on patented core technologies, 64Express reduces the risk, time and cost of application migration projects. It automates the migration of C and C++-based Windows(R) and Linux(R) 32-bit applications to Itanium architecture-based platforms, allowing developers to focus on more value-added activities, such as re-architecting, tuning and optimization, rather than the repetitive manual effort of porting code from 32-bit to 64-bit.
"MigraTEC's 64Express is the first automated migration solution for porting 32-bit C/C++ applications to the new Itanium 2 processor," said David L. Brown, general manager of Intel's Platform Enabling Group. "As a strong supporter of Intel's 64-bit platforms and an expert in the migration of mission-critical software applications, MigraTEC is equipped to provide products and services for a predictable and efficient migration path for Itanium 2-based solutions."
