Caminus warns of pro forma loss, revenue slump

NEW YORK, July 8 (Reuters) - Caminus Corp.(NasdaqNM:CAMZ - News), an energy-trading software company, warned on Monday that it would post a pro forma loss on lower-than-expected revenue in the second quarter, citing delays in the timing of several software deals it had expected to close in the quarter.

Caminus, which last month lowered its full-year revenue and earnings guidance, said it expects to post a second-quarter pro forma loss of 18 to 20 cents a share, compared with earlier expectations of a 3-cent pro forma profit.

Analysts on average expected the company to earn 3 cents a share, according to market research firm Thomson First Call. Caminus also said it is beginning a new program expected to yield annual savings of about $10 million, or 32 cents a share.

Caminus shares closed off 5 cents at $5.95 in trading on the Nasdaq.
