You know I'm no fan of Bush, but do you really think his bland remarks had much to do with this plunge? I think that's a bit of the old post hoc ergo propter hoc. If his remarks caused the market to go down, was it because he's doing too much to combat white-collar megathievery (as plenty of SI denizens would say) or not doing enough (as others would say), or is it just that he didn't raise GE to Buy from Hold?
