The whole Clinton versus Bush debate is so naive. I believe Clinton is the worse of the two, but neither alone really was much of a factor in the economy. The bubble was a confluence of many trends that created enormous wealth. The popping of the bubble was the confluence and in many ways a continuance of many trends that took that wealth and more away. It doesn't matter who was elected for this 4 year term, they would get blamed for the economy's ills. What it boils down to is that we are now paying for the last decade's excesses. All Bush can do is help clean up the mess so future generations will have confidence in our markets and economy. But he's not to blame for what's happening now. To blame him or Clinton exclusively is just childish and naive.
