Dave, for all the analyst bashing, there are some sincere honest ones I'm sure. On the other hand how objective can they be - won't the company mostly provide them with the numbers they want them to see?

Since the street generally uses estimates for its baseline, I also use it as a reference point to predict street reaction to a stock to support TA. I wouldn't want them to go away and in fact I would prefer to see them abolish buy/sell rating system in total and only report the numbers.

For example Goldman would have nothing to say about ACF today since they didn't change any estimates. If a broker wants to point out fundamentals such as PE compared to industry, etc, then fine, but let's get them out of the down grades that just happen to be timed with hedge fund buying. I can't prove it but I can sure smell it. <G>
