Kumar,

There wasn't much democracy during WW2. If you were Japanese you were in a camp, if you had relatives or contacts in Germany, Austria or Italy you were under surveillance.

The rest of the country voted, but the mind set was pretty uniform. In WW2 all our sons fought. There wasn't any evasive manuevers for rich kids (aka Vietnam).

If another large scale attack occurred - liberalism is dead for at least a few years. However I doubt it will devolve to ethnic cleansing (But if they nuked or bio-attacked even one American city, I would really not advise being in the ME or downwind).
