Hi Franq. What are you up to these days. The By Range thread has wondered a bit fron QCOM. Perhaps good timeing as VZ and PCS are near to launch. On the other hand, SI itself appears in some danger.

Concerning competitive advantage. I was taught that there competitive advantage can be compounded (ie by adding a new layer of advantages upon the old) but not "sustained". The idea is that given set of advantages will just not hold up over time. They must be added to in order for the advantage to continue long term.

I think that in QCOM's case this means patents added on top of existing patents and generations of ASICS added on top of existing generations of ASICS.
