Jim, It seems some stocks had been allowed to remain in the SnP500 since they had been there for a long time.
The SnP500 should be a US only index just as other SnP countries indexes are elsewhere.

I think the problem is that prior to this change, you could have one stock in more than one country SnP index....as those stocks were.

Of course, global indices is a separate matter..and any of those companies can included in those.
