Since when in the world of Apple, has speed meant anything..... USB 2.0 will bury firewire once most motherboards start using USB 2.0 as a standard feature. i did not say anything about apple, i said Firewire2.0 is twice as fast as USB2.0.... do you doubt this? do you really think Sony is going to use USB2.0 when they can use Firewire2.0 at twice the speed at the same cost, and already be downwardly compatible with its old devices? FireWire2.0 will be the standard for Cameras and external disk drives and Camcorders and anything else that wants twice the speed for the same cost... sony and panasonic and device makers set these standards, and sony loves firewire..... they will definitely adopt it when 2.0 comes out, like they use the heck out of firewire 1.0....
