So there's no leaked sources, no front line headers on the Washington Post or New York Times and no exaggerated details on Debka (perhaps Nadine can correct me if I'm wrong). There is simply this "axis of evil" proclamation from Bush, whatever that means.

There is stuff linking Saddam to terror, but it's all on the "water pistol" level, even counting Debka's sources. The Czechs stand by their Mohammed Atta meeting story, there are various reports of Saddam-run terrorist training camps, and Debka has traced the Saddam - Arafat alliance.

The Israelis are much more worried about the Iran-Syria-Hizbullah-Al Qaeda-PLO alliance, and Debka has spent a lot of time tracking that. Did you know that Iran pays Hizbullah something like $100 million a year? We are talking about a serious army that has been given Southern Lebanon as its own fiefdom. The consensus is that it's only a matter of time before there is a new Syrian-Lebanese-Israeli war. Boy Assad may be temporarily trying to keep the lid on (it seems that Powell put the fear of G-d into him a couple of months ago) but it's unlikely to last. Boy Assad is not as smart or as shrewd as his father was.
