With cdma1X currently at more than 10 million subscribers and WCDMA (via FOMA) at about 120 thousand, would you like to take a guess at what year WCDMA subs will surpass 1X subs (and EV-DO) on a worldwide basis? Andrew Seybold: Yes Jim, my answer is not until 2006 or 2007 and I am not sure that even then it will happen but by then most phones will be capable of both technologies--the fallicy of the GSM community is thinking that EVERY GSM subscriber becomes a WCDMA subscriber which I believe to be flawed thinking--voice only and voice SMS users don't have much incentive to go to WCDMA until the opertors force them off the GSM networks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
