On the Hi-Tech development from the Space Program. NASA has had the ability to generate solar power in space and "beam" it to earth. The theory works great. Only problem is it's about double the cost of electricity right now. But not if so cal keeps going... A talk with my father revealed he's paying $.12 a KWH base and has four steps up to his highest rate of $.24 a KWH on his home there. Getting closer to NASA's need before the space electricity is profitable. Here, I'm only paying $.068 a KWH...no limit or lifelines, etc... So they'll have to use the space power for So Cal.... :) One thing NASA really needs to develop is a better battery. Or you could say "Fuel Cell". Have had that need for fifty years. That would open a whole lot... On the cheaper space flights. I can understand why they have used rocket launches due to the development and showing of military defense ability. But now? Why don't they start taking the shuttle up on the 747 and launching it from high altitude? Would save a ton of money? Chuck Yeager mentioned many years ago it would be easier and safer. But of course, him being military didn't want to discuss the defense implications of rocket launch technology. BirdDog@Prairie.com
