Freddy, if you are going to argue that statistics are usually invalid, and can be manipulated by someone arguing any position, then it is logical to me that when weighing data, you are also looking for underlying motivations, to see if and how the data was manipulated in forming your reply to the other side of the debate.
I believe you have recently asserted that:
1. There are no race riots in the South
2. Because Thomas Jefferson owned slaves AND he was an admirable person, that is a defense/justification of slavery
Correct me if these are not things you said or implied, please--I did not return to your original post and do not mean to misquote your opinions. Perhaps if you restated what you said about the two issues listed above we could discuss your statements based on more accuracy. While I have little background in the principles of philosophy and philosophical discussion, something which you are very good at, that does not lead me to believe that you are right automatically on every point you make on other issues.
If I am citing statistics that show that regardless of other risk factors such as maternal smoking, poverty, birth weight--whatever--the incidence of SIDS in a population goes up predictably based on OUTSIDE air pollution, and it is a study that has just been released, and then you counter with statements about indoor air pollution, which the article does not discuss, and then throw in a study from Oxford, I think you have just confused what we are talking about. That is why I asked you to clarify your position, in which you seem to saying, logically following your statement, that outdoor air doesn't go inside or something. |
