MR. BUSH - LET'S START CALLING A SPADE A SPADE

On December 6, 2000, I wrote an open letter to President-elect George W. Bush in which I advised him that he would be facing an all-out war with the Democrat Party which, having failed in their blatant attempt to steal the election, was determined to sabotage his presidency.
I warned him that the party of sleaze and corruption would be lying in wait for him, using every opportunity foul and fouler to smear him and destroy his reputation and that of his party. I told him to be prepared to fight back with all he had at his command, because he was facing an enemy that would stop at nothing.
Not surprisingly, he paid no attention to my advice, and now the vultures have come home to roost.
In that letter I wrote that that no matter how hard Bush could try, he was not going to "get the Marxist leadership in both Houses of Congress to give him one inch of breathing space. From day one, I wrote, they're would put every obstacle imaginable - and a few beyond imagination - in his way. For them, the 2002 congressional election campaign began on January 20th, 2001. So did the 2004 presidential campaign.
"Don't ever forget that," I warned. "Everything these people do will be governed by their desire to take back the Congress and the White House over the next four years, and the country be damned. In addition, they are seething with resentment over the fact that for once the GOP ran circles around them and their high priced shysters in the post-election campaign. Vengeance may be the Lord's, but you can count on them to preempt the Divine prerogative and set out on the get-even-with-Dubya path."
While admitting that there were a handful of Democrats who will put the welfare of the nation above partisan politics, I wrote that with the dominant left-wing of the congressional Democrat party it would be war from January 20th onward - by their choice, not his.
"Every time you start thinking about how to approach these socialist aparatchiks form a mental image of the kind of people you're dealing with - see in your mind's eye Barney Frank, the porcine Gerald Nadler and the odious Robert Wexler" and that demagogue of all demagogues Tom Daschle and his crony in the House Dick Gephardt. That, I wrote, "should disillusion you from any idea that you might entertain that you are dealing with reasonable human beings."
I reminded Mr. Bush that "millions of Americans, good, sober, industrious and reliable men and women rose up and fought for your cause when the Goreites tried every means foul and fouler to steal the election from you. You owe them, big time as Dick Cheney would say. They are aroused. Keep them in a fighting mood. You'll need them behind you in the battles to come.
"And the way to keep them involved will be to start immediately to undo the damage the Clinton mob did to this nation in the last eight years. There is a lot you can do without going to Congress to get their permission. Let's start with that flood of notorious executive orders Clinton issued in his reckless disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law. Suspend them immediately - each and every one, and then appoint a commission to study them and decide which to keep or modify or just throw away. By some miracle there might even be one or two worth modifying and keeping. Give them a strict time limit - say 120 days. And then get rid of every single one of these executive orders that cannot be justified.
"Clinton's massive land grabs must be reversed. All of them. Do it and do it quickly. Give those huge chunks of America Clinton grabbed back to Americans. And to hell with the spotted owl. People come first.
"And get to work doing what the GOP has been promising to do but never does - rewrite and simplify the tax code and, once and for all, get rid of the IRS.
"This is war - remember that. You can either hunker down and fight a defensive battle - and lose, or go into battle and fight to win."
What I did not say, was that he should turn the Attorney General loose on the Clinton era mob, investigate their eight years of criminality and show the American people the true criminal nature of the Democrat leadership. Had he done that from the beginning, Mr. Daschle and his partner in deception, Mr. Gephardt and all their sleazy allies would be on the defensive from day one. There was a treasure trove of evidence of Clinton and democrat malefactions just waiting to be exposed, but Mr. Bush chose to ignore it and tried instead to get along with this nest of snakes.
Today the Democrats are desperate to take back the House and hang on to their control of the Senate. That desperation is there for all to see in their frantic effort to convince the American people that the GOP must be defeated in November so that they can take back the reins of power they so badly abused for 40 years.
It's not too late for the President to begin to fight back. If he doesn't, he'll find himself facing a Democrat controlled congress and the prospect of losing the White House in 2004.
Another column I wrote at the time, has a lot to do with the upcoming congressional elections and it's worth repeating here in it's entirety. It asks "How can any - I mean any practicing Christian - ever - I mean ever - vote for any Democrat? I mean any democrat?
"How can any African-American - any African-American - ever vote democrat?
"How can any farmer - any farmer - ever vote democrat.
"For that matter, how can any parent, any small businessman, any American who owns real property, any American who values his or her constitutional rights, anyone victimized by predatory trial lawyers, any dedicated teacher who wants to teach effectively, just about any American ever vote democrat?
"Aside from the fact that the democrat party is today more of a criminal conspiracy than a political organization, each of those cited above have every reason to despise what has become of the once proud and patriotic Democratic party - the party that once fought valiantly for immigrants, for the exploited American working man, and against elitist tycoons, bigots and foreign tyrants, but has now become their willing tool.
"I write as a member of a family with roots deep in the Democratic Party. Among my forebears were Democrat party officials, the Democrat leader of the city of Brooklyn, a New York State Supreme Court justice first appointed to the bench by then-Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt - a man he grew to despise as FDR waded ever deeper into the socialist swamp, taking the nation with him, a mid-1860s & 70s New York County Comptroller and Sheriff, etc. They were Democrats to the core.
"I write today as a member of an extended family whose members abhor a Democrat Party which has betrayed its noble heritage and blackened its name forever.
"How can any practicing Christian vote Democrat?
"How can any practicing Christian vote for a party whose hands are covered with the blood of 40 million unborn victims of abortion - a horror which survives and continues to kill the innocent unborn only because most democrat officials protect an abortion industry whose supporters contribute vast sums to the party and its candidates.
"The Democrat Party is so deeply committed to protecting those involved in this murderous practice that it once refused to let one of its leading officials, a sitting governor, speak at its national convention simply because he was a dedicated foe of the baby killing industry and might attack the party's abortion industry supporters from the podium if permitted to air his views before the national TV audience.
"In recent months it has been revealed that the body parts of the victims of partial-birth abortion are being marketed by the abortuaries where this unspeakable crime is committed. Yet every effort, state or national - to block this hideous form of infanticide for profit has been blocked by the democrat in the White House and his unscrupulous democrat allies in Congress.
"How can any practicing Christian ever vote democrat?
"How can any African American vote democrat?
For the better part of the 20th century the democrat party has cynically exploited black voters, making promises it never fulfills while supporting policies designed to keep vast numbers of black Americans in poverty and ignorance and in thrall to the democrat party and the big government leviathan the democrat party has created and sustained.
"It has been the shameful policy of the democrat party to promote racial discord, setting white against black, while posing as a foe of the very racism from which they hope to benefit.
"How can any farmer vote democrat?
"How can any farmer support a party which has put the interests of America's farmers below those of the globalists whose policies are beggaring US growers in favor of foreign agricultural interests?
"How can any parent vote democrat when that party supports the interests of big government over the rights of parents, or small businessmen who are strangled by government regulations wound around their necks while the tycoons of the elitist multinational companies get favored treatment from the regulators?
"How can any American who cherishes his or her constitutional rights vote democrat when that party conspires to violate or ignore the restraints placed on government by the Constitution, regularly tramples on the rights of individual citizens, and sets the interests of big government above those of the citizenry?
"How can any dedicated teacher who wants to teach effectively vote democrat when that party has sold itself to the bloated teacher's unions whose policies have created a national school system which is turning out hordes of functional illiterates ignorant of the most basic forms of knowledge of everything from the English language to their own history and the history of the world?
"How can any American vote democrat when that party has sold itself lock, stock and barrel to the predatory Trial Lawyers of America whose assaults on American industry have cost every American the price of paying the bloated settlements obtained by these legal vultures.
"For forty years, the Democrats controlled the Congress. During those forty years Capitol Hill was a nest of thieves, demagogues, power-crazed tyrants, and assorted socialist plotters. From the onset of the Roosevelt administration down to the present day, the Democrat party has become the instrument of a tyrannical and corrupt socialist conspiracy whose policies have reduced Americans to a state of near-subservience to a government which kills the unborn, confiscates much of the earnings of working Americans through unjust taxation designed to buy votes with government programs, makes common cause with dictatorial regimes, bombs the innocent civilians of a sovereign nation in the name of a New World Order, and incinerates children or shoots them in places like Waco and Ruby Ridge.
"How in the name of God can any decent American vote for this party? Ever?"
The American people should be asked these questions over and over again between now and November. |
