I am disgusted, in general, with the way news is hyped. I am disgusted, in general with partisanship in all its ugly manifestations. I tune both out, much like I tune out most of the interpersonal crap that sometimes occurs on these threads. I listen and read for substantive issues that interest me and just ignore the crap as best I can and proceed as though it weren't there. When the crap ratio gets too high, I just turn it off for a while.
My response to you--ZZZZZZ--was based on that attitude, not on a dismissive attitude about allegations or exonerations. But since you seem to care about my opinion on that, it's that they should all, media and politicians, cut the crap rather than try to balance it.
EDIT: I think what the media do is much like what we do on SI. When something happens in the news, everybody gets all excited and discusses it offering opinions where there is not yet sufficient information upon which to base an opinion, and speculating all over the place. After the initial excitement is over, we just let it go. We rarely go back and review any of those issues. All the action is on the front end. It seems the same to me in the media. The flap and flap about new news, but rarely tie up the loose ends on old news. |
