Had he been honest about his misconduct, I agree the "crimes" would have been petty and I would not have supported impeachment.

The parallel is in the misconduct. Clinton screwed up by lying to get a pack of mad dogs off his back. We have yet to see a pack of mad dogs after Bush, although they're warming up in the wings, and so we have yet to see if he would handle them in any more classy a way. The parallel is in the petty crimes and partisan witch hunt, which has not yet fully materialized against Bush and may or may not hound or corner him into doing something disreputable.

I hope that the Dems handle this with more statesmanship and less vituperation than did their GOP counterparts when the shoe was on the other foot. And even if they don't, I hope this Prez shows more class and character than the last one did. How it plays out remains to be seen.

What is clear at this point is that the situations are quite parallel and what goes around comes around. Unless someone is adult enough to break the cycle. Given that all the someones in a position to do the right thing are partisan politicians, I'm not sanguine.
