Shark attack sighting in Chicagoland Jim Johnson, a co-host of an afternoon drive talk show on WLS AM-890, a 50,000 watt blow torch in Chicago, disseminated the most irresponsible form of financial and radio propaganda I've ever witnessed.
On Wednesday, the show discussed recent market events with financial journalist Terry Savage. The discussion centered around the pummeling that investors have taken for the last 2 1/2 years and what investors can expect going forward.
Yesterday, Jim Johnson read a personal e-mail that came to him from a listener who wanted to respond to Wednesday's show and alert him and the audience to Bob Brinker. The e-mailer said that Bob Brinker was forecasting way back in January of 2000 the calamity that we are seeing today. The e-mailer continued by saying that this is why Bob recommended all Moneytalk listeners go to 100% cash back in January of 2000. The e-mailer concluded that Bob went to 100% cash so that he can put the 100% cash back into the market when MOABO comes.
Jim Johnson said he failed to take Bob's advice, but wished he would have taken it. He also reminded listeners that Bob is on WLS Saturday and Sunday from 3-6. No mention was made of CTR1, CTR2, Buy Immediately bulletin, TEFQX, LU, VOD, tactical asset allocation, countless failed attempts to identify legitimate CTR's, etc.
I don't think that Jim Johnson is in on the Brinker hoax, but he definitely got used by someone who wanted to give the FALSE IMPRESSION that Brinker went to 100% cash in January 2000. However, I do fault Jim Johnson for not verifying the e-mailer's contentions and airing this misinformation as if it was fact and people would benefit by listening to Brinker.
I don't know who the e-mailer was, but it was definitely someone who wanted to get a fresh batch of unsuspecting listeners to tune in this weekend. Let's all send Jim Johnson an e-mail exposing the Brinker shenanigan's and his true track record and ask him to correct the record this afternoon.
