I believe this will be the ultimate fate of AMD. It will be taken over by a company that's more able to utilize its assets. Problem is, the value of AMD's assets isn't very high - old processes, borrowed technologies and aging designs. About the only thing of value they may have is the Hammer design which is still mostly hype and hope. Is that worth the current market value? I think not. I see the buyout coming later and at lower prices.
