MM Companies, Inc. (formerly musicmaker.com, Inc.) Confirms New Trading Symbol; Reverse and Forward Stock Splits to Take Effect at Close Of Business July 12

NEW YORK, July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MM Companies, Inc. (formerly musicmaker.com, Inc.) (OTC Bulletin Board: HITS - News) announced that the Company's trading symbol has now been changed to "MMCO" from "HITS", following the change in corporate name to MM Companies, Inc. from musicmaker.com, Inc. approved by stockholders at the June 11, 2002 Annual Meeting and effective July 2, 2002. The Company also confirmed that, as previously indicated, the amendment of the Company's Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation to effect a 1-for-100 reverse stock split immediately followed by a 100-to-1 forward stock split of the Company's common stock will take effect at the close of business on Friday, July 12, 2002. In addition to approving the change of corporate name and the reverse and forward stock splits, at the 2002 Annual Meeting the Company's stockholders approved amendments of the Company's Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation to remove the classification of the Board of Directors and to reduce the number of authorized shares of the Company's common stock from 100 million to 25 million, elected William W. Scranton III, Irwin Steinberg, Joseph R. Wright, Jr., Devarajan Puthukarai and Seymour Holtzman as directors, and ratified the appointment of Ernst & Young LLP as the Company's independent auditors for fiscal year 2002.
