AMD doesn't have the resources right now to create a new group within their organization. In any other time, this would be a good idea, but right now, it would only lose them more money.


wbmw, I disagree. Demand is light so they have time to work out any kinks. Components are the cheapest they will ever be barring a world recession. And this gives them enough lead time to be ready for Hammer.

At the end of the last quarter, AMD had cash reserves of 1.276 billion dollars. Even if they loose $200 million this quarter, they still have over a billion dollars. I don't think they are in a bad position at all.
