I'm just trying to point out here (again) that options are not "given for free" as some here suggest. They are in lieu of pay....
Then you are in agreement with Warren Buffet. Warren also goes on to conclude that because they are given in lieu of pay, that they should be expensed as pay (or compensation) on the income statements.

Not really clever. You of course realize I am saying that options are a way for employers to pay people less than they are actually worth. This has nothing to do with Buffett, or expensing. I commented on the expense issue earlier to mindmeld.

BTW remember on the sebl thread you were asked how to handle Ellison's 10 year old expiring options as an expense, given the fact that this was compensation for 10 years of prior work. Did you ever come up with a solution?
