Selva, regarding: <I'm totally baffled at mankind's general stupidity.... >, don't be.

The average IQ is only about 100 and half the population is on the wrong side of that average. So you should not be surprised by the consequences of vast numbers of people who have trouble understanding the simplest things having an equal say in how the world works, via ballot boxes or barrels of rifles.

Those in the top 5% are also clueless about what the heck is going on and why, but slightly less clueless than the remaining 95%. So, we are likely to come to grief from time to time with that combination.

As Jay has relentlessly pointed out, it is more important to try to see where the rabid mob is heading and get there first, than to correctly identify where they should be going and be totally ignored, heading in the wrong direction, trampled in the stampede in the opposite direction, with financial and other consequences detrimental to one's wishes.

Think of the human population as a cage full of chimps, with no bars between them and you. Then act accordingly. Try to remember that you are a chimp too. It's a lot of fun, if a bit crazy at times.
