given ASP's and the fact that you know GM's do you need to do this exercise to know something must be running good. Why can you not assume yields are great and there is more to this than you can understand with the disclosed information? I'm not going to comment on Intel's yields because I too know what they are. I will remind this thread that Intel recently claimed to have "World Class Yields". If that is true then how can a uninformed Droid estimate the number of good die per wafer for a CPU such as NorthWood? Easy! I have repeatedly provided a link to a publicly available yield estimator and Yousef has provided what he and I both agree (and I'm sure you would agree also) is a Defect Density number that would be "World Class" based on industry standards, .25/cm2. The Droids can easily plug in the die size and calculate Intel's minimum yields if they wanted to. Note, I am not confirming Intel's claims about yield, only saying that IF they are true then the minimum yields are easily determined. EP
