If AMD went into becoming a box maker, I believe that would be a very stupid idea. Remember it is about profit margins; not volume. Also remember that AMD has only a finite amount of resources. Instead, AMD should focus on the Hammer and make sure it is released ASAP. Additionally, AMD should ensure that they can fab this uP in sufficient quantities. AMD does not need another K6 fiasco.

Back in 1995/6, it was rumored that TI was interested in NexGen (a company that merged with AMD).
