The law is a funny thing. We've had thousands of federal, state, county, and municipal politicians ("law makers") making new laws for over 200 years in this country, it would seem that we should have plenty of laws by now. Mostly we have selective enforcement, based on the current mores. If you drive a car, you probably break a half dozen unenforced laws every day.

I'm not defending these guys because they certainly went over the line of what is socially acceptable. But they were a lot closer to that line then; we are in the process of lowering the bar on accounting practices, changing the enforcement of the law.

Law and enforcement is not black and white; it's grey and always changing with social attitudes. I think I smell the start of a witch hunt.
