Does anyone have the figures for the amount of money that is sitting on the sidelines?
Well, the markets are several trillion dollars less than they were a couple years ago. Do you consider that sideline money?
Funny thing about all the sideline money that Pisani and Bartaromo keep mentioning, and I've been saying this since the bubble began deflating, most that money ain't coming back, not for a long, long time, perhaps generations!
Figure it this way, the money gone to "money heaven" was actually transferred to a minority of wise people.
Now say you are one of those wise people, you have several hundred million, perhaps more. What do you need to piddle around in the market for?
Granted a small percentage might filter in, but the way I see it, I could set up the next few generations of West's on the interest gained from the sideline money, or I could have helped create a real estate bubble. Real estate I don't need to sell, maybe my grand kids, but not me. Hm.
Right or wrong? That's my theory of why we ain't gonna see much sideline money re-enter the equities markets. |
