Perhaps history will not perceive #6 in that manner. Perhaps time will reveal that attempting to achieve grand visions often have consequences of equal magnitude when the path chosen to achieve those goals was the wrong one.

The next to last paragraph in your post partially discusses why I believe those near utopian visions were not achieved, as these same practices were all too common throughout the highest levels of government. Some believe the tail wags the dog. Others believe the dog wags the tail. In any event, leadership lacking proper ethics & morals may have had a lot to do with the reasons that these grandiose visions weren't achieved............. and it appears that there are some pretty severe consequences for missing the mark.

Perhaps you are right. Perhaps history will see divergent perceptions & reality jive with the facts.
