The true sign of a turn around will be when we see more help wanted ads. Watching the lineage rates at print media companies has always been a gauge of the health of the overall economy.

If we are on track for the traditional 7 year economic cycle, we have another 12 months to go. We are currently 30 months into the current down turn depending on who you listen to. A 7 years cycle translates in 84 months. So the turning point is 42 months. I know everyone wants a quick turn around, but the conditions are just now there yet. I am not sure why people thought this down turn would be short. In hindsight we went through a protracted expansion. It makes sense we would have a protracted contraction. We should at least expect a contraction of average duration.
