James, You've taken a good first step by opening an account for your own personal trading, this is really the only way to learn. As for SI contributors, you can learn from them but I would advise doing your own DD and if it matches what has been said by others you could proceed by taking a position. You can usually tell if the contributors are honest by reading their past posts and seeing if there is any validity to them. Check the stocks they refer to and the comments they make to see how accurate they were in their prognostications.
