Wow. Well I'm impressed. He is unusual. Not one child I've asked so far under the age of 7 has been able to tell me anything about the war(and I've asked at least 50 kids now- starting with the 23 in my class)- they do seem to know a bit about the Civil War though, and they frequently give me information about that, instead of about the revolutionary war. I continue to collect data on this every week, since I've become fascinated by the answers. My favorite answer to my questions was the little girl who asked me if I was alive during the revolutionary war.

But I think you are confused about the nature of the precociousness. That was in regard to understanding, in first grade, the meaning of "God" to be inferred from the founding documents of our country. You seem to be confused about that. If you read carefully you will see it is not knowledge of the war I was talking about, but the ability of a first grader to understand so technical a detail. If your nephew understands that too, make sure he goes to prep school, because IMO he's very "gifted".

I'm not sure how you know what his classmates understand unless you've talked to them, but thanks for sharing.
