The parallels here mount ... Actually, those who opposed McCarthy were only accused of being wrong, as well. ( Except,of course, for a tiny minority of rabid Commie hunters at the extreme who were even calling Eisenhower a Commie). A big term then was "Commie dupe." This meant that you might be well-intentioned, but your liberal instincts had allowed you to become blinded to the Communist threat. BTW --If you would like some alternative proofs about me being in the wrong ... I could probably help you out there. ;-)
