Once a sleazeball, always a sleazeball. I am talking about Vince Freeman, who has an article on SharkyExtreme site. I thought this guy used to be part of Hardware Central, the Rambus hypesters.

Anyway, he has an article on "Value Gaming". These guys always go to the extreme to show that you can get Athlon or Intel system of similar performance for similar price. Intel CPUs are more expensive, but they try to use smoke and mirrors to hide that fact. In the past, they did it by making up prices of Rambus and DDR, now they are making up prices of CPUs.

This is their claim:

Athlon 1800+ OEM $98
Volcano 7 HSF $28
Total $126

P4 1.6A Retail $138

Here is reality (PriceWatch) (including shipping)

Athlon 1800+ OEM $82
Volcano 7 $18
Total $100

P4 1.6A Retail $142

Difference claimed $12
Actual difference $42

For $142 budget (the price of P4 1.6A), one can buy Athlon XP 2000. Why do you some of these Intel Fans have a need to lie to make Intel based products better than they really are?

Their own web site contradicts their prices:
