"Record-Breaking QQQ Open Interest
07/15/02 12:43 PM EDT

A most interesting note from Price Headley of Big Trends. He observes that there is a big concentration of QQQ (QQQ:Amex) calls, the July 25s, which have 194,121 contracts outstanding. Just above the current QQQ price, this represents stout resistance.

It is, by the way, the biggest QQQ open interest of any strike, be it put or call. A big concentration of puts below the current QQQ level would have bullish implications, but does not exist now.

Price feels that this condition will preclude a good rally until Friday’s option expiration is out of the way and then we will get one. I think he is right on in his thinking."
