Arctic Star Diamond Corp - News Release Artic Star receives results to unravel Enigma property Arctic Star Diamond Corp ADD Shares issued 16,220,766 Jul 10 2002 close $ 0.22 Monday July 15 2002 News Release Also Oasis Diamond Exploration Inc (CSI) News Release Also Iciena Ventures Inc (IIE) News Release An anonymous director reports DIAMONDIFEROUS METAMORPHOSED KIMBERLITES Oasis Diamond Exploration, as operator of the Enigma joint venture with Iciena Ventures and Arctic Star Diamond Corp. in the Wawa area, has received geochemical and diamond results of 11 rock and three 1-1/4-inch drill core samples from C.F. Mineral Research Ltd. The July, 2002, report shed new light on the Wawa diamond host enigma. The C.F. Minerals laboratory report states: "Based on the presence of diamonds, Ti-chromites and other kimberlitic indicator minerals, the lack of lamproitic indicators and geological logging, it is concluded that the OASIS samples are metamorphosed xenolithic kimberlites and not lamproites or lamprophyres. The abundance and quality of macro and micro diamonds in samples OASIS001-01, -02, -07 and MZ2002 are particularly encouraging and may be comparable to some of diamonds from the Northwest Territories. It is recommended that geological mapping and trenching to be done in the area where high quantities of diamonds were recovered. Depending on the mapping and trenching results, core drilling might be warranted to delineate the economic potential of the metamorphosed kimberlites." The report also states that "a number of kimberlitic indicator minerals, including eclogitic garnets, pyropes, Ti-chromites and picroilmenites, were recovered. Ti-chromites have only been reported in kimberlites or lamproites and are a diagnostic tool for such rock types." These corroborating rock sample data support the premise that the anomalously high kimberlite indicator minerals from the previously announced stream sediment sample on the property were derived from local sources likely of kimberlitic origin. The report further lists the diamond results from the seven rock samples and three sections of diamond drill cores from holes CSI No. 1, CSI No. 6 and CSI No. 7 on the Oasis Enigma property. The 11 samples returned a total of 253 diamonds. Twenty-six microdiamonds in sample OASIS001-01 are colourless, eight are yellow and the rest are light grey. Seventy-seven microdiamonds in OASIS001-02 are pale to medium yellow, 50 are colourless and five are grey. Samples OASIS001-07 contains 25 medium-yellow and 10 colourless microdiamonds. The single macrodiamond in OASIS001-01 is medium yellow and the macrodiamonds in OASIS001-02 and MZ2002 are both colourless. C.F. Minerals is an independent consultant for the Enigma discovery. The full diamond results are presented in the following table:

Note More results are pending for additional samples from the new electromagnetic kimberlite target 7.5 kilometres from the Enigma discovery previously announced. An outcrop sample MZ2002 returned 21 diamonds from a 36.06-kilogram (20 yellow and one clear) as well as numerous confirmed kimberlitic indicator minerals including G10 pyropes. This report has furthered the understanding of the Wawa project area, and the joint venture is now planning an aggressive exploration program to be initiated to locate and test new potential kimberlitic targets on the Enigma project. |
