After announcement of the judgment in US journalist Daniel Pearl kidnapping and murder case, the government had planned to lodge the four convicts into separate jails of Sindh owing to security reasons, sources told The News on Monday.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Hyderabad awarded death sentence to Shaikh Omar and life-imprisonment to his three associates after finding them guilty of hatching criminal conspiracy, spreading terrorism by kidnapping and murdering the Wall Street Journal correspondent.

sources said that the authorities had decided not to shift the convicts -- Shaikh Omar, Shaikh Muhammad Adil, Syed Salman Saqib and Fahad Nasim -- to Karachi prison, as they feared their accomplices could easily strike here for their escape. "They would serve their sentences in Hyderabad prison or any other jail of the province except Karachi jails," said a source on condition of anonymity.

The sources revealed that government was considering a proposal of shifting Shaikh Omar to a jail in interior Sindh -- probably the Sukkur prison as authorities were of the view that Sukkur Jail was the most secured one.

P.S. By the way I was born in Sukkur..
