The key is not duration, but selection.

It is statements like this, which for you is not just an empty mantra, that makes you such a unique investor. Market timing never has much appeal to intelligent investors, who have the wisdom to recognize they are no good at it. Investors like me, on the other hand, try to sieze any slim reed they can. It is an accident of fate that I began my "investment" career on Wall Street on the commodities side of the floor, and there I was forced to consider technical analysis.

It is some time since I have looked closely at stock specific charts that predate the bull market of 1982. I will take a look in retrospect soon and report my findings. Your statement has the ring of truth. However there is a difference betwen a company like Flarion arising (b. 6/00) and it being recognized by a manic seething crowd (~6/08 minimum). You see it wont even be able to come public (or it will decline the opportunity) until market conditions improve substantially. Why should they sell valuable equity for a pittance? That's why it takes so long.
