The pick up on July 16 was due to institutional investors coming into the market when the DOW was down 160 points. I don't know how many individual investors it would take to slow down the rally, but I don't think that they will have much effect. My guess is that the investors that were chicken bled during the decline. More than likely, they sold at losses. Those investors that know more about the companies they invest in will stay hold and increase positions. Long term investors will also hold and increase positions. Remember, the nasdaq is only up less than 2% since the beginning of the year.
