Here's a nice on line store for high end photography stuff, if you live near Chicago or one of their physical locations you can rent as well as buy
www.calumetphoto.com
They've got you Leica which looks like a nice camera

In particular they claim a Very short shutter lag for snapshots, fast storing time and exceptionally quick signal processing. Exposure sequences of up to 8 pictures at a rate of approximately 4fps.
Unfortunatly data on digital camera's isn't quite "comparable" so its difficult to judge without a side by side.
I've got a Olympus C-4040 (4 mega pixel with 3:1 optical zoom) that takes absolutly fantastic pictures, however I don't care for the shutter (focus and handshake) lag, which can make it difficult to capture the "right" picture in a dynamic setting.
Calumets got it for $699, but it can be had via mailorder (from your buddy "Johnny" out in Jersey) for 5 bills

The one I'd like to have, (EOS-1D a bit pricy for a amatur and part time photographer)
