I wouldn't constrain a request for advice a priori to suit my prejudices.

Very specifically: when buying call options, go for the leaps. ST calls are too vulnerable to the ST mood of the market. My AMAT July calls will probably expire worthless. I'm comfortable with the $20 2004 leap calls.
