I would like to clarify my position to one of simply supporting Shannon’s participation on the thread. I have to agree with Jurgis’ opinion that the poll question was unfairly designed.

I think it's interesting that you and Jurgis believe it's unfair for me to ask the questions that provide the answers I need in order to determine whether or not I want to participate in this thread. In my mind, the only thing that is unfair is rudeness.

For the record, I support anyone's participation in this thread, including Shannon's participation, as long as it's consistently polite. You will remember that I invited the thread to openly support the general tone of his posts and anyone who writes similarly toned posts. Yet that invitation has received a very underwhelming response. Accordingly, I have no immediate motivation to change the nature of my participation in the thread and I have no reason to back a moderated thread.

I would guess that the original, personal animosity between you, Frank and JS from two years ago, was significantly inspired by differing viewpoints.

You don't have to guess. All you have to do is ask me. I won't speak for Frank but you're right that in my case it's based on differing viewpoints. My view is that rudeness is totally unacceptable and Shannon's view is that it is acceptable, at least as exhibited by the tone of his own posts.

I wish the three of you could just kiss, make up, get over it and move on.

I pay no attention to Shannon. He's on permanent "ignore." And I'm not about to kiss Frank!
