China Telecom Deploys Juniper Routers PHILLIPS BUSINESS INFORMATION , 7/15/2002 9:26:00 PM Jul 15, 2002 (Fiber Optics News/PBI Media via COMTEX) -- The operator of China's largest terrestrial communications network, China Telecom, has deployed additional Juniper Networks [JNPR] ERX edge routers in two provincial branches of its network. China Telecom's selection of the Juniper product was based on the operator's need for wire-speed performance, routing capabilities and its ability to enhance standard broadband connectivity offerings with IP services, according to Juniper insiders. The Sichuan Branch of China Telecom required a scalable and reliable edge router to provide services across the industrial province, including the capital city of Chengdu with a population of 12 million. China Telecom also installed the ERX in central China in an effort to address the needs of a growing number of broadband subscribers in the rapidly developing city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province. ibexx
