SC I defy you to find any other explanation for what happened to cause a 23% decline in the Dow on Monday 10/19/87 other than crowd psychology. The news over the preceding weekend was overwhelmingly benign. The news over that particular weekend in question was dominated by remarks from James Baker concerning the US dollar which has been suggested by some to have caused the slide.
