7/16/2002 13:19 - Intel Is Beginning To Look Like A Cheap Stock - Merrill Lynch Comments [INTC]

Merrill Lynch analyst Joseph Osha said he believes that Intel Corp (INTC) should meet the $6.309 Billion revenue estimate for the second quarter, down 7% sequentially.

Osha said that he expects commentary from the company regarding the third quarter to be conservative, with growth guided for the low single digits, and continued weakness in gross margin as it works to bring inventory levels down.

According to Osha, Intel is beginning to look like a cheap stock, trading below its autumn 1998 troughs on earnings, revenue and book valuations. The analyst said that may limit near-term downside to the name. Although, the analyst continues, with doubts about the company's ability to fix its margin problems, there is not much upside either.
