An interesting article indicating that roads could start snaking down from a Bathurst Inlet deep water port to lead to developments like Lupin, Ekati,...and from there up to Coronation Bay or down to Snap Lake and Kennady Lake,....four years to completion they say may happen!! Could do wonders to supply and capex costs.

The Globe and Mail reports in its Monday edition that a proposal to
construct an Arctic deep-water port at Bathurst Inlet and a connecting toll
road in Nunavut could help Inmet Mining develop its rich zinc and copper
deposit at Izok Lake. The Globe's Allan Robinson writes that a feasibility
study for the $215-million Bathurst Inlet Port and Road Joint Venture was
completed during the first quarter. A regulatory review and licensing
process for the project are now under way. If things go as planned,
construction could begin in 2004 and be completed in two years. The
project, to be owned by the aboriginal communities, would connect a port at
Bathurst Inlet with an all-weather road to Izok Lake in the interior of the
mainland. A 211-kilometre road would lead from the port to the east shore
of Contwoyto Lake, where a barge terminal would be constructed to allow
shipments to Lupin mine on the west shore. From there, a 79-kilometre road
would be built to Izok Lake. The corporate sponsors of the environmental
and engineering studies include BHP Billiton PLC of Australia and Rio Tinto
PLC of Britain, the operators of the Ekati and Diavik diamond mines,
respectively.
