All, just listened to Barrett's talk. Didn't take any notes, but in short, it was an overall call-to-arms. The reduction in headcount by 4,000 will be accomplished much in the same way as before (severance package, attrition), though he left open the possibility that some groups might get cut outright.

Barrett did spend some time talking about the corporate scandals that have been hitting the daily headlines. He reiterated that Intel does not do this and will not do it.

Overall, I didn't hear anything surprising or shocking to me.

P.S. - One interesting thing was that Barrett mentioned AMD by name a few times in his speech, especially in regard to the processor speed race. He mentioned that whether you use clock speed or some other objective performance measurement, Intel has the performance lead across the board. He also hinted that AMD's two warnings in the prior quarter was a result of Intel's good execution.
