NO religious references in the schools, PERIOD.

That's hype. No one said that. The problematic religious references are those that convey the message that good Americans believe such and such.

I am suggesting here that defining the provinces of parental teaching versus public school teaching may not be as clear as you indicate.

I don't think you can compare essential religious beliefs with anything else. It's too touchy, too personal, and it's specifically mentioned in the Constitution. The Constitution doesn't say anything about condoms. Yeah, a lot of that stuff is part of religious teachings and traditions, but it's not the essential religious belief.
