Thanks for posting that E. I have a close relative who is autistic, and his mother is the antithesis of the old "refrigerator mother" in the textbooks of yesterday.

Time magazine had a big cover story on autism in May. One theory is that the genetic underpinnings seem to be most prevalent in the "geek" culture of people who are particularly strong in math and science. Silicon Valley apparently has a disproportionately high incidence rate. My nephew has two parents very strong in math and science as well.

That is one mystery that I would love to see unraveled in my lifetime.
