I'm not sure you are right, the main reason for expensing options would be to avoid upper management abuse. Of course MSFT upper management doesn't get options, but that's a different story.

I welcome MSFT announcing that they will expense options, as long as they use the methods proposed by INTC or KO. It would have NO effect on MSFT's share price. All other factors considered, it would probably cause the stock to go up, just because it's one more thing out in the open.

Unfortunately, there's little sign of improvement in business spending, so the stocks are headed south. At least at the open tomorrow they are.
