Thank you for that explanation. You probably would not believe the hours I have spent reading posts from you and others and never was able to quite grasp that your argument was basically from the Biogen viewpoint. I'm afraid I don't know what BPI is. I have shares of XOMA, SEPR, VPHM and ELN. The ELN are very old--in fact back into the 70's. But the others were a recent attempt to diversify my tech stocks. And thus I began reading all the biotech threads and began running across your posts. I always assumed you must have a viewpoint which I should understand and a lot of knowledge I needed, but I never could figure out where you were coming from.

I suspect this post of yours will help. I suppose the retina program might be of interest to me as much of my attempt to learn this stuff came as I took over management of a bunch of my father's investments after he lost his eyesight to wet macular degeneration. Made the mistake of hiring an ophthalmologist who was not interested in retinas to do a double lens replacement. When he complained that something was not right, the guy claimed it was just the healing process and soon both eyes were gone without proper diagnosis.

We owned a bunch of other biotechs at that time, Idec Pharmaceuticals, Medimmune, Immunomedics, Anika Therapeutics, come to mind. Most are now sold though I guess we still have a few shares of Anika around. We found some outfit in Europe which was looking for phase II or III clients for a laser angioxxxxxxx (whatever the word is for cauterizing blood vessels in the eye via a dye which only activated when the laser hit the vessel with dye markings. But it was too late and Dad was too old.

I see there are a couple more posts as a result of this one of mine apparently, but I'm glad to know about intentionally dishonest bias against Biogen. Why does that company receive it? Pretty big but not the biggest or most important, I wouldn't think. I guess it has to do with Xanelim and competitive possibilities. But I got lost on BPI's meningococcemia affair about which I know nothing. Yet that too sounds like an interesting area for me as my Mother died of coccidiomycosis meningitis not too long ago.

So lead on McDuff--what is BPI? Lance
